4 Great Tips for Entertaining Your Family and Friends in Small Apartments

One of the downsides to living in small apartments is that it can make entertaining a little more difficult. With a small space, you must worry about how many people you invite and where they are all going to sit. If you have a small apartment, the following tips will help you when you are planning to entertain family or friends.

apartments

Consider Parking

Parking can be an issue if you live in an apartment complex. Do not just tell them to park anywhere, especially if they have assigned parking spaces. If you are planning on having a few guests, you can either talk to a neighbor about borrowing their space or talk with your landlord to see what they can recommend. The last thing you want is to upset your neighbors or landlord by having cars parked hap hazardously all over the place.

Be Creative

If you have just a small dining table in your apartment and you need something larger to serve food, be creative. A sheet of plywood covered by a tablecloth makes a great table. You can even use your coffee table to serve appetizers. In fact, if you have a washer/dryer in your apartment, you can even cover them with a tablecloth and use them as a serving area.

Take It Outdoors

If your apartment building has an outdoor area for guests to enjoy, consider taking your entertaining outdoors. Talk with your landlord to find out what is possible and whether or not you must reserve the space. Do not wait until the last minute to do this. You want to be prepared for bad weather, as well.

Be Realistic

If you are living in 600 square feet, it is simply unrealistic to expect to entertain fifty guests. You must determine how many people you can fit comfortably in your apartment before you send out the invitation list. You may find that by inviting a small number of guests, you can entertain much easier. Along with this, it may just give you a reason to entertain more often.

Entertaining in small apartments can be done successfully, but you will want to be organized. Always plan ahead of time and make certain with your landlord that you are not breaking any rules in your lease.
